Biography
Chiara Marotta is a screenwriter, director and editor for films, videoclips and advertisements, cofounder of the production and distribution company, Lapazio Film. In 2018 she received the Pitch Me Award of Cartoons on the Bay, worked on the screenplay and the editing of the short film Those Bad Things, which won the prize for the best editing at the 33rd Critics’ Week at Venice and was selected for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. In 2019, she worked on the editing of the feature film Bitter Years, presented at the Festa del Cinema in Rome. Veronica Can’t Smoke received the prize as the Best Short Film at the 34th Critics’ Week at Venice. In 2020, she edited the animated short film Bad Mood, which won awards at Dok Leipzig and at the Torino Film Festival, and was in competition at festivals including at the Slamdance Film Festival and at the International Festival of Animated Films in Annecy. She directed and edited the documentary The Moment of Transition, which received an award at the Solinas Prize and was presented at IDFA in 2021.
