Biography
Giovanni Buccomino holds a degree in History and Philosophy and began to work in independent cinema as a sound designer. In 2010, he made his first feature film, La Valle della Luna, becoming from then on author and director of documentaries presented at some of the most important festivals in the world, such as IDFA, HotDocs, Sheffield Doc Fest, Festival dei Popoli and others. While he continues to work as a sound designer on many international projects, he writes and directs documentaries for networks such as Aljazeera. In 2018, he took part in the Sundance Story and Edit Lab. After a Revolution is the last film in a trilogy produced in Libya. In 2018 he was executive producer and sound designer of the film by Naziha Arebi, Freedom Fields, presented at the Toronto Film Festival, at the Festival del Cinema Africano, Asia e America Latina of Milan and the winner of many awards. Today it can be seen on MUBI and Criterion. In 2020, he wrote and produced Untold Chaos published by The Guardian. Today he continues working both as a sound designer and as an author/director of documentaries for international networks and for independent projects.
