Synopsis
Toumani Kouyaté, a djeli or griô (master of words, storyteller, conflict mediator, councilor of kings) who lives between Brazil and France, returns to the home village of his family in the Mali, to accompany the rites of passage and initiation of the djelis, through telling stories and the power of the words.

Biography
Beatriz Seigner is a Brazilian screenwriter and director, In 2009, she directed Bollywood Dream, the first coproduction between Brazil and India, selected by over twenty international festivals, including Busan, Tokyo and São Paulo. Los silencios, her second feature, was presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes in 2018 and won the Audience Award at FESCAAAL 2019. Between Us, a Secret was written with Walter Salles.

Biography
Toumani Kouyaté is a “griot” who was born in Mali in 1965. An all-round artist, he also uses dance and poetry to tell his stories. He currently lives in France. Between Us, A Secret is his directing debut.
