Synopsis
The casual discovery of a box of photos taken in Italian East Africa in the 1930s by a distant relative arouses more general considerations on the imperial gaze, on its construction of the other and elsewhere and on its legacy. In a narration which interweaves personal reflections and collective history, shared by colonizers and the colonized, this documentary invites us to look “beyond the edges” of colonial photography.
