Synopsis
In Fremont, a city in the Bay of San Francisco, Donya, a young Afghan refugee who worked in Kabul as an interpreter for the Americans, leads a lonely existence, divided between her work as a writer of prophetic phrases for fortune cookies for a small Chinese firm and her sessions with an eccentric psychotherapist. Tormented by insomnia and the memory of those she left behind her in Kabul, Donya is looking for love. The cast includes Anaita Wali Zada, a young Afghan refugee, and the American actor, Jeremy Allen White, one of the stars currently most in demand by Hollywood.

Biography
Babak Jalali was born in Northern Iran and raised in London. His debut feature film, Frontier Blues, premiered in the Official Competition at the 2009 Locarno International Film Festival and went on to receive the Fipresci Award at the San Francisco Film Festival. His second feature, Radio Dreams, won the Tiger Award at the 2016 Rotterdam IFF. His third feature, Land, was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival in 2018. Fremont premiered at Sundance 2023.
