La leggenda dell'albero segreto
Synopsis
According to ancient Maya populations, the genesis of the world was revealed in the darkness of a "big bang" where mysterious divinities offered men the essential foods for life. They included cacao. This legend, never forgotten, relives once again today in Mexico through the spirit of shamans and farmers who recognize the universe in the perpetuation of this seed, the symbol of the connection between day and night. Its journey, however, from the other side of the world, to Italy, brings us back to the different gaze of science. Here, another genesis is taking place, through laboratories and microscopes, where the plant, dissected and cloned, announces secrets about our future and our planet...

Biography
Between gazes elsewhere and poetry, Giuseppe Carrieri devotes himself to telling stories of rubble and forgotten humanities, always accompanied by his friends of Natia Docufilm. His best-known work In Utero Srebrenica (2013) is the portrait in black and white of the stubborn love of some mothers continuously searching for the bones of their children. It has won awards at several festivals such as FIFDH in Geneva, the Al Jazeera Film Festival, the Bellaria Film Festival, and the Prix International du Documentaire et du Reportage Méditerranéen.
