Synopsis
The city of Douala is in trepidation for the start of the new school year. A long queue of customers come to Mambar Pierrette (cousin of the director who puts herself on stage) to get their clothes ready. More than just a dressmaker, in the neighbourhood she becomes the confidante of her customers. But when the rain starts pouring down and threatens to flood her small workshop – one of several successive misfortunes – Pierrette will have to stay afloat.

Biography
Rosine Mbakam born in Yaoundé (Cameroon). After she had trained at a video production centre founded by COE and studied at Institut Supérieur des Arts (INSAS), she founded her own production company Tândor Productions. She directed short films and feature-length documentaries such as Chez Jolie Coiffure (2018) and Delphine’s Prayers (2021). Mambar Pierrette, her fiction feature debut, was presented at Quinzaine des Cinéastes - Cannes 2023.
