Synopsis
The thirty-something students Juan (Gael García Bernal) and Wilson (Leonardo Ortizgris), indulging in the idleness of their comfortable limbo in the outskirts of Ciudad Satélite, devise a plan to break into Mexico City's National Museum of Anthropology and steal Maya, Mixtec, and Zapotec artifacts. Everything goes according to plan, but the two fail to anticipate the consequences of their actions. Presented in competition at the Berlin Film Festival in 2018, where it won the Silver Bear for the Best Screenplay, Museo is inspired by a real-life event to craft a mischievous narrative filled with gags and witty dialogues about the history of a nation and the identity of its people. This hilarious comedy masterfully balances different tones and narrative genres, featuring a charismatic Gael García Bernal.
