Synopsis
In a desperate quest for intimacy, Ali follows the suggestion of his girlfriend who puts their relationship to the test. The plan takes an unexpected turn when the gender roles are confused. With the tones of a comedy, the film questions the prejudices and stereotypes of a society that separates the sexes and assigns them in social categories.

Biography
Kawthar Younis is a filmmaker based in Cairo, Egypt. Known for her film A Present from the Past, which was the first of its kind to set a record for audience demand in the Egyptian market. She works as a producer for films, mini series and TV commercials. ​Kawthar is a co-founder of the inaugural Rawiyat - Sisters in Film, a collective of young Egyptian women filmmakers. My Girl Friend had its world première in 2022 at Mostra del Cinema di Venezia in the Orizzonti section.
