Synopsis
In the rural areas of north India, Santosh has been recruited into the police after the death of her husband, a police officer. She very soon finds herself involves in an investigation on the rape and murder of a Dalit (untouchable) girl. At her side, the charismatic investigator Sharma fights against a corrupt and patriarchal world. The film denounces the growing anti-Muslim discrimination and the repercussions of the caste system on the modern identity policies.

Biography
"Sandhya Suri is a British Indian writer-director based in London. Sandhya’s first fiction short The Field, won Best International Short Film at Toronto IFF in 2018, and was BAFTA-nominated for Best Short Film in 2019.
Her feature documentary I for India premiered in the World Competition section of the Sundance Film Festival, has been screened at over 20 international festivals, and garnered several awards before being released theatrically to critical acclaim in the UK and the US. Her debut feature, Santosh, premiered at Cannes in Un Certain Regard in 2024. The film was selected for both the Sundance Screenwriters and Directors Labs. Sandhya is currently developing her second feature, an adaptation of a J.G. Ballard short story, and a TV series. She was named as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2023."
