Synopsis
Essa, an ex-UN soldier and refugee, is in search of well-being for himself and all his home village of Bureng, in Gambia. After having received new papers in Italy, Essa successfully starts a business in Europe. Blocked in Africa by the Covid pandemic, he must deal with one of the worst crises in his life.

Mauro Bucci is a multi-award-winning Italian filmmaker and independent researcher in the field of visual anthropology. He is particularly interested in the potential offered by cinema for studying and understanding human experiences and cultural practices. He has conducted seminars and courses and written scientific texts on ethnographic cinema for institutions and publishers both in Italy and abroad. His films focus on the phenomenon of migration and are made by building strong bonds with the people filmed, living with them for long periods.
