The 5th edition of the MiWorld Young Film Festival – MiWY, the first festival in Italy dedicated to cinema from Africa, Asia, and Latin America and to intercultural education, will take place in theaters, in Milan and Lecco, and online from May 6th to 11th, 2024.
For this edition as well, a challenging goal: to present feature films and short films by auteurs that are increasingly asserting themselves for their value and relevance on the international scene, addressing current themes of interest to young generations from unconventional, non-Eurocentric, and non-stereotypical perspectives. MiWY is a space for storytelling and self-narration where convergences and causes of divergences are brought to light, strengthening in girls and boys their role as citizens of a common home, which is the entire planet, and fostering the drive to effect change.
The 5th MiWorld Young Film Festival – MiWY will take place from May 6th to 11th, both in theaters in Milan and Lecco, and online on MYmovies.it. At the heart of the experience will be communal viewing, meetings, and discussions with directors and industry experts during post-screening debates.

The programme
A programme of specially selected films to meet the needs of the school community. Every year, MiWY presents short and feature films from the three continents, all in national premiere.
MiWY is aimed at classes from secondary schools of 1st and 2nd grade. It will be possible to attend the morning screenings scheduled in theaters in Milan or Lecco.
After viewing and analyzing each film, every audience member will vote on the film, contributing to the awarding of the Best Feature Film Award and the Best Short Film Award.
In addition to the schedule of screenings in person, it is possible to participate in MiWY through the #MiWYdoityourself formula, a classroom viewing managed by the teacher independently upon request and reservation of the film link, which can be viewed on the MYmovies.it platform.
On Saturday, May 11th, during the Award Ceremony in the theater in Milan, open to schools, families, and the entire community, the respective awards will be announced and presented.
